Dear Colleagues,
The Russian Academy of Sciences, in collaboration with the Federal State Budgetary Institution “Central Research Institute of Epidemiology” of Rospotrebnadzor, is organizing the international conference “Genetic Technologies: Achievements and Prospects,” which will take place on November 18, 2026, online.
Genetic technologies are not merely a cutting-edge scientific trend, but the foundation of tomorrow’s medicine. They pave the way for fundamentally new solutions: from precisely targeting the causes of diseases to developing personalized treatment strategies for each patient. Today, these technologies are becoming a key tool for transforming healthcare — and Russia is actively shaping its cutting-edge development path in this direction.
In accordance with Resolution No. 479 of the Government of the Russian Federation dated April 22, 2019, the Federal Scientific and Technical Program for the Development of Genetic Technologies is being implemented in the country. More than 100 scientific organizations and universities are involved in the program. The establishment of world-class level genome research centers serves as important evidence of state support for this field — these centers are active in the areas of pharmacogenetics and personalized therapy, epidemiology, biosafety, and technological independence.
The capabilities of genetic technologies are already changing the approach to treatment: they offer the possibility of effective therapy for diseases that were previously considered incurable and allow for the development of diagnostic and treatment strategies tailored to an individual’s unique genetic profile. With their help, scientists are seeking breakthrough solutions to combat cancer, hereditary, and pediatric diseases; developing innovative methods for diagnosing and preventing socially significant and particularly dangerous infections; and improving the monitoring of genetic variability in microorganisms. All of this is shaping a new standard for the development of healthcare and the epidemiological well-being of the population of the Russian Federation — one that is more accurate, personalized, and proactive.
The conference program will be of interest not only to scientists conducting basic and applied research in the field of genetic technologies, but also to a wide range of medical and biological professionals who are integrating genetic approaches into their daily practice, bringing us closer to the era of personalized medicine.
The conference is being held with the direct participation of the World-Class Center for Genomic Research on Biological Safety and Technological Independence (Agreement No. 075-15-2025-517 of the Ministry of Education and Science of the Russian Federation dated May 30, 2025) and is aimed at the further development of cutting-edge genetic technologies in the Russian Federation.
Given the scale and significance of this event for science and healthcare, we sincerely invite you not only to participate in the Conference but also to become a partner in shaping the future of medicine together.
Sincerely,
Vice President of the Russian Academy of Sciences
Member of the Russian Academy of Sciences V.I. Starodubov
